Labradoodle is the result of crossing Labrador Retrievers with Poodles. Yes, it is a new type of hybrid. Astonishingly there are three types of hybrid available. These are American Labradoodles, Australian Labradoodles, and American-Australian Labradoodles.
The breed is the result of deliberate breeding of Labrador Retrievers with Poodles. This began in 1980. Most probably, it started in Australia. We know from recorded history that Wally Cochran is the inventor of this dog breed. Though his intention was to come up with a breed that could fight an allergy which was prevalent, it took a different turn of event.
The target of the breeder was not achieved. But a breed came up which has a combination of wonderful feature from both the breed of the experiment. It resulted in the fluffy, cute and adorable pet of today’s Labradoodle.
