Labrador Retriever Training shouldn’t be hard if you are reading this article. Different canine breeds have different character and temperament. Just like human beings, each breed has its own level of distinctions. That is why different breeds will respond to your training methods differently. As time passes, we get to know more about the breed’s behavior by observing. At MyDog.Training, we understand this, and that is why we help you know about each breed in details. We dive deep into the research, scientific findings, and dog communities to bring the best out of the available materials.
Giving your pup treats means giving him some tasty and unusual food to eat. This is because if you give him the regular food, he won’t take it as a treat. This breed loves eating a bit more. So it will work great if you give him the foods they love to make him obey your command.
You can use any of the food:
- Chicken, apple, hot dog, carrots etc human foods that your dog might love to have. (Keep in mind to give him the foods that are safe for him)
- Provide your dog convectional foods. You can purchase them from pet stores.
- Homemade cookies with good ingredients which will not harm their health.
- Other foods that your dog doesn’t get to eat usually.
Just because treat is very important for training it doesn’t mean that you are giving your dog treats without any reason. Only give him treats if he abides by your command. There is a certain limit of giving him treat for the same training. If he obeys your command for the first time, give him a treat. When he gets used to it you don’t have to give him treat anymore. Whenever you try to teach him a new trick give him treats but until he has grasped it properly. Or he will take those treats as a regular food. And you would not want it to happen.
However, there are a lot more ways of giving your Labrador Retriever treat while training. Remember the goal to provide a gift is to make your dog happy and comfortable.
